For Sale – Audrey the Audi, this great example of the ground-breaking S3 Quattro hot hatch, is offered as a private sale by one of our storage customers at an asking price of £POA

Note: The personal registration shown in the photographs is not included in the sale and the car is now registered on its’ original plates – W808YKP

The original Audi S3 was a high-performance derivative of the Audi A3, featuring a 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a Haldex differential based four-wheel drive system. With 210BHP they were a game changer in the already busy hot hatch market, with power right up there with the revered Subaru Impreza Turbo.

But the Audi was a somehow more refined place to be, a styling masterpiece characterised by an understated, ‘sleeper’ looks, featuring subtly powerful styling and meaningful stance that still looks great today. There’s a simplicity that just makes most hot hatches since look overweight and over-adorned.

These cars sit in the late ’90s sweet spot of superb engineering and design, yet unburdened by too much in the way of electronics and emission control. In short, they have character.

As ever, Clarkson hits the nail on the head: ‘I simply wasn’t ready for such vivid performance from what is basically a 1.8 litre, three-door hatchback. And that’s where the S3 really scores . . . . . . The S3 is Mika Hakkinen. Cool. Detached. Handsome. And much, much faster than you’d think.’

As with many modern classics, the Series One is always the most attractive and the one to have, so this pre-facelift car is on the button, also being in the right colour combination of Silver Metallic and Black Silk Nappa leather.

Options include the Recaro electrically operated seats, climate control, ESP, sunroof and 18” RSTT wheels.

The bodywork is in excellent condition, and the interior is likewise, with just some age related issues with the inserts to the door cards and the central dash display having lost some pixels – well-known and rectifiable issues with these cars at this stage of their lives. The wheels have slight kerbing, being in original condition.

This is a car that has been in long term ownership, used and cared for over the years before entering gentle retirement when replaced by a more modern Audi.
